I can say in all honesty that, throughout Helen's pregnancy, I've had absolutely no preference or hope for a particular gender with our child. Since we first found out we were going to be parents (and particularly since Helens accident) my main concern has been that our baby will be healthy. With parents like us it's already pretty much doomed to have an obsession with music that borders on the fanatical (Helen tells me it was jiving like mad during last night's Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain BBC Prom) and that's a unisex hobby if ever there was one.
"Are you going to find out the gender?" is the other poser that keeps coming in the run-up to the scan. Hell yes! It's not like I've not had enough surprises this year already, and a vague hint towards the sex of your child does at least mean you can purchase baby clothes in colours other than white and yellow...
Rant over. Back to work - 'Sister Act: The Musical' at the moment. There's one area of repertoire that my offspring can discover for themselves - and if any sons happen to naturally gravitate towards musical theatre then it might turn out we've got a big girl after-all!
