The SPD saga

So, looks like I have SPD. Ironic as when I was diagnosed with SPD, it was blatantly a kidney infection. Now I have pain that matches SPD, and it takes weeks to get a diagnosis of SPD (after being fobbed off with a "er it's something musculoskeletal, not sure what...")

Anyway, things have suddenly moved on apace:

Yesterday, 2pm:
See the midwife (not my usual one but a bloody brilliant one who listened and actually did the simple things she's meant to like measuring my fundal height etc. But anyway, I digress...) and I lose it a bit. Tell her about weeks of worsening pain. She agrees it's probably SPD and that I need to see an obstetric Physio, makes a note on my medical notes and tells me to get a referral from my GP ASAP.

I head to reception to make the appointment, only to be told the next GP appointment is mid July! I tell her that's not good enough, and promised to get the doctor to call me.

Yesterday, mid afternoon:
Doctor calls and books me in for 4.30

Yesterday, 4.30:
Doc confirms the suspected SPD diagnosis and refers me to the standard midwives. *sigh*. He tells me it will take 48 hours - fair enough

Today, lunchtime:
I return a missed call to the Alcester physios (how speedy are they!?) and have a catch up with my old physio who looked after me up here post-accident. She advises I really need to be seen by an obstetric Physio (surprise surprise) and goes through several complicated options for getting referred on. I mention I'm on my way to the Alex to get my bloods done, and she suggests trying to get my referral taken on by the Alex's physios - a long shot, but worth a try.

Today, mid afternoon:
I pick up my referral from the Alcester physios and take it up to the Alex. Firstly they tell me I need to be referred by my midwife. I say no, I have a doctors referral and I'm not getting referred again. Then they try and get me to come to a group class. I say no, I need to be seen and assessed, not given a class (that can come later). So they finally have in and gave me an appointment for this Friday - WIN! If at first you don't succeed... keep bloody badgering!

Not 100% sure it's with an obstetric Physio but at least it's a start and in the right place! Let's hope they can do something!!!

On another positive note, I decided to be brave and take Dylan to the hospital in pants not pull ups. He was a STAR! I took the potty with us (I had a big bag!) and, amidst all the excitement of 'the hopsital' he managed to use it whilst I went for a wee - well done Dylies!
